THE UNSEEN WORK

 

A few days ago, I watched a woman in my neighborhood begin her day before sunrise.
While most people were still asleep, she was already sweeping the compound, arranging chairs, preparing breakfast, and getting her children ready for school.
Hours later, everyone left for their various activities. The compound was clean. The house was orderly. The meals were prepared.
Yet nobody stopped to admire the swept floor or compliment the effort that made the morning run smoothly.
As I watched, my attention was drawn to the broom she used. It struck me that the broom would probably be returned to a corner once the work was done. No one would thank it. No one would display it. Tomorrow, it would do the same work again.
Then I felt God speaking through that ordinary scene.
Many of us spend too much time wondering whether our efforts matter.
We pray, serve, give, encourage others, work honestly, and remain faithful in difficult situations, yet it sometimes feels as though nobody notices. But God does.
The Apostle Paul wrote: "Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful." -1Corinthians 4:2
Notice that God does not require popularity, applause, or recognition.
He requires faithfulness. The truth is that some of the most important work in God's Kingdom happens where nobody is looking.
A mother praying for her children at midnight, a father refusing to compromise his integrity at work, a believer choosing forgiveness when revenge seems easier, a church worker arriving early and leaving late without ever standing behind a microphone.
These acts may seem small to people, but they are precious to God. Jesus Himself understands hidden seasons. Before the crowds gathered around Him, before the miracles, and before the sermons that changed the world, He spent years in ordinary daily life. Yet the Father's approval rested upon Him - "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."- Matthew 3:17
Heaven was pleased with Him long before the world celebrated Him.
That reminds me that significance is not measured by visibility. God sees what others overlook.
If you feel unnoticed today, remember what Jesus said:"Your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly." -Matthew 6:4, the God who counts every hair on your head sees every act of obedience, every sacrifice, every prayer, and every tear. Nothing done for Him is ever wasted.
The broom may return to a corner after its work is done, but the clean house stands as evidence that its labor mattered.
In the same way, your faithfulness is producing results even when you cannot yet see them.
Keep serving.
Keep believing.
Keep praying.
Keep doing good.
The God who sees in secret never misses the work of a faithful heart.
So, have it in mind that your value is not determined by who notices you, but by the God who sees you.
