Not to rehearse your failures, not to edit your regrets, but to tell your soul the truth. This year did not turn out the way you planned. Some dreams stalled. Some goals never moved beyond intention. Some prayers seem unanswered. If honesty is allowed, you expected more from yourself, and perhaps more from God. But here is the quiet danger of the last day of the year, we often measure the year only by what we did, not by what God preserved. We count achievements, but forget survival. We count results, but ignore restraint. We remember what did not happen, and overlook what did not destroy us. This final day is not asking you to pretend everythin...

Christmas does not begin with angels; it begins with inspection. Not of colours, not of coordination, but of character. Before heaven notices who matched pyjamas, it checks who matched nature. Pictures may convince people, but only DNA convinces God. As pyjamas dey match, make DNA too match. Christmas morning is simple. Outfits align, smiles are arranged, homes look peaceful. John 1:12–13 declares, “But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God… which were born… of God.” That is not metaphor; that is identity. Sons share nature with their father. Christianity is not celebration by association, it is transformation by birth. You cannot claim God as Father and live with a different spiritual DNA.   I once heard a striking story that has stayed with me ever since. In one of Europe’s museums, there is a famous painting of a man playing chess with the devil. The man looks defeated, his head bowed in despair, while the devil sits proudly, certain of his victory. The painting carries a chilling title: “Checkmate.” According to the artist’s message, the devil had won—the man’s soul was lost. But one day, a chess master stood before the painting and carefully examined the position of the pieces. After studying it for a while, he exclaimed: “Wait! This painting is wrong. The man is not in checkmate—he still has one move left!” What looked like total defeat was not the end. There was still hope. This story reminds me of how Satan often declares “checkmate” over people’s lives—through sin, fear, failure, sickness, or despair. In the rush to beat time, I left behind the things I had placed outside the mall—and forgot to buy the food I intended to eat before departure. Time was short, so I moved on, thinking I’d just repurchase them when I arrived at my destination. But heaven had already gone ahead of me. As I stood outside waiting for a cab, a fellow clergy unexpectedly pulled up and offered me a ride.
