In the journey of life, your skill is your seed — but connection is the soil that helps it grow. God may have gifted you with uncommon ability, talent, or intelligence, but the truth remains: no one rises in isolation. Even David, the man after God’s heart, was skillful with the harp — but it was a servant’s recommendation in Saul’s palace that brought him into visibility (1 Samuel 16:17-21).
It’s easy to think that being excellent is enough. But excellence hidden is excellence wasted. Scripture shows us that divine placement often comes through human connection. Joseph had the gift of interpreting dreams — yet he needed the cupbearer to remember him before Pharaoh (Genesis 41:9-14).
This is why you must show up. Attend workshops, training programs, church seminars, and conferences. God often uses gatherings as platforms for liftings. While you’re being trained, you’re also being noticed. Your network can become the bridge between your calling and your manifestation.
Ecclesiastes 4:9 says, “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor.” In today’s language: collaboration multiplies impact. So don’t isolate yourself in the name of personal development. Grow your skill — yes. But also grow your circle. The people you greet today may be the gates you enter tomorrow.
Remember, even Jesus chose disciples. Paul had Barnabas. Ruth clung to Naomi. Connections matters. Therefore, register for that training you’ve been delaying, introduce yourself in that meeting, say yes to networking opportunities.
Because, skill will give you speed — but connection gives you direction.
You may be gifted, but God often moves through people.
